When This Truck's Suspension Breaks Loose So Does All Hell
A mechanical failure caused a tractor trailer to topple on its side on New York's Tappan Zee Bridge, resulting in some serious carnage.
A truck traveling over the Hudson River on the Tappan Zee Bridge had a mechanical failure, and was sent into the center divider, The Journal News reports. Watch as the truck falls over and releases tons of scrap metal onto the roadway. Perhaps more notable is how well the cables keep the barrier pieces from tumbling all over the road:
Five cars were hit by debris, but nobody, including the 61 year-old truck driver, was injured (though the trucker was ticketed for driving with a suspended license). Talk about luck. Look at the aftermath:

The wreckage clogged traffic for hours, stranding a pregnant women in her car. But a policeman carried her over the mangled barrier, into his car, and through a path in traffic (which emergency workers had cleared for her), The Journal News reports. An EMS team delivered her baby in the hospital parking lot.
Wow, this turned out a lot better than I expected.
