Buying a used car can be a smooth, hassle free process. Or it can be absolute hell on earth. What's your used car buying horror story?
Here, I'll start. When I was looking for my first car, I went to eBay. My dad had a number of good experiences buying cars on the site so it was a no brainer.
It took a while, but I won an auction for a tasty, super clean Nissan 240SX with 99,000 miles on the clock. It looked great. I was still in high school, so I made the buy but my dad went down to DC to check the car out and bring it home.
Well, that 240SX, which was described as perfect, was far from it. Photos didn't show the body damage and the car stunk of smoke. My dad walked away from the sale. But the sellers were none too happy. As I recall they were trying to find a way to make us pay and saying we'd get negative feedback. In the end, nothing happened, I bought my Miata a week later, and the rest is history.
What about you? What's your used car horror story?
