What's Your Strangest Car Superstition?

Something we sing and shout about nearly every day here at Jalopnik is that cars are more than just lifeless lumps of metal. Which is why our relationships with them aren’t like ones that we have with our, say, washing machines.

Specifically, I’m talking about weird, inexplicable car superstitions that you have. Do you kick all four tires before going out on a long road trip? Do you always drive with a lucky charm in the glove box? Do you tap the shifter once, snap your fingers and whistle four bars of “Don’t Stop Believing” before setting off?

Mine is super lame. I kiss my steering wheel right before I put my car away after I’ve driven it. I take good care of it and it takes care of me. It’s a pretty good system that we have worked out. I also do it when no one’s looking because I’m sure it makes me look like a total loser.
