What's The Scariest Handling "Moment" You've Had In A Car?

Top Gear host James May recently spent several hundred words analyzing his cat Fusker and addressing the definition of handling. Unlike cats, we don't have nine lives. Most people have had some sort of handling-related near-death experience — what's yours?

Naturally, the phrase "near-death" has different meanings for different people. I once treated my sister to a Troy Queef-esque dab of oppo in her BMW 323i, at which point she informed me that if I repeated the act I would lose a testicle to her foot. At the same time, a good friend of mine just returned from WRC Rally Mexico, where he hung the back half of his E30 off a bridge while flat on the throttle and countersteering. One man's ceiling, as the saying goes, is another man's right foot on the floor.

Still, everyone has been there. What about you? When was the last time you had a car get away from you? When did you almost bite it? The Brits call this sort of thing "having a moment" — what's the scariest handling-related cock-up you've had in a car?

(Note: Monsieur Gilles, as seen above, had no moments. They were all planned and designed for the express purpose of cracking your mind open. Ain't nobody gonna tell us any different.)
