If you're at work your Internet is now slower because everyone is streaming CNN to watch the actual most historical thing in history ever. But what's the most important moment in automotive history?
It's hard to argue with October 1, 1908, which is the day the Model T was introduced to the world. It was an affordable, full-size economy car and it began the mass production of the automobile. But just because this is the most important moment doesn't mean it is the best moment. In fact, far from it. Before this moment cars were built by hand as the playthigns of adventuring industrialists. Without mass production we'd have thousands of smaller car companies producing unique cars as opposed to a small handful of companies sharing platforms and engines, trying to produce the least car for the most amount of money. Stupid Henry Ford.
