Gas prices have settled nicely into the zone of "ruinously expensive," but that doesn't mean you have to settle for a Prius. There are plenty of cars that get good gas mileage, but aren't penalty boxes to drive.
It's hard to make a case against the old Porsche 356. Back in the ‘50s and early '60s you could buy a fantastic handling sports car that still got something between 32 and 37 miles to the gallon. Light weight and streamlined aerodynamics are your friend.
