With every new model year, cars become increasingly complicated and increasingly difficult to understand. We need to turn this trend around, starting with the drivers themselves. What do you think every non-gearhead needs to know about their car?
It's a common refrain, but a true one: Your tires are the only parts of your car that touch the ground... unless you don't take care of them.
Knowing how to check your tire pressure is the easiest and most basic bits of knowledge a driver needs to have. And it's easy. Most gas stations now have tire pressure gauges built-in to the compressed air/water setups. A cheap tire pressure gauge is no larger than a marker and can be had for about one dollar. It is the minimum you need to know and something a non-gearhead can learn in five minutes.
