Much as we love cars here, you're not a true gearhead until you can appreciate the hulking monstrosities that ply the rails. We're talking trains, and they're awesome.

Our favorite train ever built was the Aérotrain, specifically Aérotrain I-80 HV. It was the final prototype in France's first attempt at high speed rail. This train could give a crap about a diesel-electric drivetrain. It had a Pratt & Whitney JT8 D11 turbofan strapped to the roof. In ‘74 it set a world speed record of 259.5 miles an hour, peaking at 267.4 mph. It's hard to top a jet-powered supertrain.
