What Performance Upgrade Is The Best Value?

Spring is almost here and, as the flowers open and blossom, so do the garages of many enthusiasts. The economy is bad, but fun must be had. What performance upgrade is the best value?

Personally, we think any performance-oriented soul does best to start from the bottom and work up, which means the tires. They're the only part of the car normally touching the road (unless you've lowered your car too much). Drive a few performance cars with crappy all-season tires and you'll begin to hate them. Warmer weather demands sticker tires. What's the point of having power if you can't enjoy all of it?

Plus, it's a value proposition because you're going to have to buy tires anyways. The difference between a set of four performance summer tires and four cheap all season tires is often less than $250 for the entire set. It's worth it.
