After being reminded this past week of the hassle and expense of transporting a vehicle to or from a relatively small island, we immediately understood why most people usually bring a car to an island and leave it there.
With this in mind we started thinking about the next obvious question—what kind of car is perfect for island use? Taking into consideration the fact you won't ever be driving super long distances or high rates of speed on our hypothetical island, what vehicle would you choose to drive when you were there?
To me this question has a simple answer—a Meyers Manx Dune Buggy. I've always wanted one but had a hard time justifying it with my ever rotating collection of old SUVs with removable tops. They're relatively small, decent on gas and are in my eyes the ideal fair weather island vehicle.
What is the ultimate island car?
