Today the Space Shuttle Endeavour flew into Los Angeles to enjoy a sunny retirement and possibly start dating some younger aircraft. Happily, NASA gave the Shuttle a great tour of Los Angeles, including two flyovers of Griffith Observatory and the Hollywood sign.
I was there, in the hot, sweaty crowd, and got a few pictures.
Aside from a slightly unhinged-sounding woman screaming "AMERICA IS BEST!!!" right in my ear, it was an incredible experience. They flew the 747 and piggybacked orbiter quite low over the massive crowd out on the Observatory's front lawn, and it was a moving thing to see.
We'll have more coverage of Endeavour's slow trek through Los Angeles streets next month, so stay tuned.
