Welcome to the Jalopnik Weekend Motorsports Roundup, where we let you know what’s going on in the world of racing, where you can see it, and where you can talk about it all in one convenient place. Where else would you want to spend your weekend?
Formula One is back this weekend for the Canadian Grand Prix, coming off of the Monaco Grand Prix and Lewis Hamilton’s first win since he clinched the title at Circuit of The Americas in October. That victory was courtesy of a pit stop by Red Bull Racing that could leave anyone mortified, as the team called him to the pits without having tires ready. What ensued was a horribly slow, hard-to-watch stop that lost pole sitter Daniel Ricciardo the race.
In other open-wheel racing, the Verizon IndyCar Series is racing at Texas Motor Speedway on Saturday. The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series ran on Friday night in Texas and the other two top-tier NASCAR divisions are up north, with the Sprint Cup Series and Xfinity Series running at Michigan International Speedway over the weekend.
Also on the lineup of live race coverage this weekend are NHRA, the FIA World Rally Championship and MotoAmerica. The MotoAmerica coverage will be on beIN, and the listings on the schedule below are via the beIN website.
Included in the tape-delayed coverage are the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series, Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship, FIA World Rally Championship, Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series, Lucas Oil Off-Road Racing Series, Pirelli World Challenge, NHRA, Monster Jam and Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America.
