Welcome to the Jalopnik Weekend Motorsports Roundup, where we let you know what’s going on in the world of racing, where you can see it, and where you can talk about it all in one convenient place. Where else would you want to spend your weekend?
There isn’t much going on in the world of motorsport this weekend. The Race of Champions happened already, and now we’re just waiting for the Daytona 24 action to kick off.
After focusing on the hot and heavy action of the Dakar Rally, things are shifting this weekend to the icy cold of Zell am See, Austria. The race, conducted completely on ice, began in 1937 and ended in 1974. This weekend the race returns as an exhibition event.
It looks as though the event is largely populated by historic and modern racing vehicles from the VW group, including Audi Sport’s Formula E car, and Ferry Porsche’s personal 550 Spyder, though other brands are represented as well. Over 130 participants will drift around the 600-meter ice course. Among those participants, Hans Stuck, Mark Webber, and Walter Röhrl.

Unfortunately, it doesn’t appear that this event is covered live on television or streaming service anywhere, but it is likely that racers and OEMs alike will be posting video of their runs to social media. Check out @gpicerace on Twitter, or #gpicerace for more.
