We’re Throwing the Fight Club of Car Design During the New York Auto Show, and You Should Come

The New York Auto Show is just around the corner, and I can’t guarantee it will sweep us all off our feet with thrilling new car debuts. But! We are throwing a party that week at Jalopnik HQ in Manhattan, and what I can guarantee is it will be one for the ages. Plus it’s not just any party—we’re throwing New York’s first-ever Middlecott Sketchbattle Championship right here in our office. And you’re invited.

If you’ve ever been to the Detroit Auto Show, you may know what I’m talking about. The Sketchbattle the big charity gala where up-and-coming car designers flex their artistic muscles in front of a live audience, and at the end of the night the best of the best take home a cash prize. It’s the Fight Club of car design, and it’s a hell of a good time for everyone who shows up.

In a few weeks it comes to New York for the first time ever, and so we’re partnering with Middlecott Design to make the event extra memorable.

What we need is you, our wonderful readers, to come hang out and watch the magic happen. Middlecott is finalizing the contestant list and they’ll be announcing who they are starting next week. (Plus, our own Jason Torchinsky will be a guest judge this time, so if there’s more centaur-centric car designs than usual that’s gonna be why.)

Also, there will be booze. Obviously.

All proceeds for the event go to charity, and we’ll announce which one when the deal is finalized. A good cause, a fun time and in support of the next great design talents in the car industry—what more could you want?
