Watch An Unmodified Nissan GT-R Hit 183 MPH On Ice

Lake Baikal is not only the deepest and largest volume fresh water lake in the world, but also happens to be frozen from January to late May. That creates a great opportunity for some high speed ice driving, which translates to 183 mph in a 540 horsepower stock Nissan GT-R.

That's still slower than what an Audi can do in the right hands, but not bad at all from a factory spec machine. Nissan Russia of course was happy to provide the ride, since even though they own a 67.13-per-cent stake in AvtoVAZ in a joint venture with Renault, there was simply no Lada available for the job.

There's a bit too much slow motion and dramatic music in this video, but it's still beautiful. I mean Siberia, not the GT-R...

Hat tip to minardi!
