Once they heard the story he had to tell about what happened to him late last week, friends of North American Subaru Impreza Owners Club's "findurpath" (aka James) implored him to send this video along to Jalopnik.

This, because the footage shows his ride — a 2006 Subaru WRX Limited, STi 6speed, FP18g turbo — getting clipped by a passing "crotch rocket," and then giving chase until the clipper just quits fleeing. Here's how James described the situation:

I had an interesting encounter three days ago. I was cruising up to Hyalite (in Montana by Bozeman) with a couple of friends. Out of nowhere, this crotch rocket tries to pass me going at least 80 mph and the d-bag realized that they were coming in too hot and clipped my front bumper.

Then, they try to take off and outrun me. After realizing that I was keeping up, they finally gave up.

The best thing is I was able to capture it all on my GoPro Hero2 with a custom tow hook mount off the front bumper.

That's a very good thing, yes. But better things emerged when I asked James a few more questions about the chance encounter.

The conversation was alarmingly and surprisingly calm and I can't believe it myself how calm and collected I was during the encounter. Probably because I race the car legally in Autocross and on a track and driving 80 through the narrow windy road that I know like the back of my hand was a piece of cake.

If you look at my YouTube channel, you'll find plenty of other videos of me racing the car. Of all the people and cars he could have hit and tried to run, he picked the WRONG one! :)

The first words out of his mouth were "Dude, I SO did not mean to do that!" I tore him a new one though and he was shaking and completely freaked out that he had his life flash before his eyes and that a car was able to keep up with him.

Kept saying how cool the car was etc etc, but was apologizing the whole time.

He denied at first that he was trying to run away and that he was just trying to catch up with some friends further up the road. But after I told him that I had the whole thing on video, he knew he was caught.

Not much damage to my car. There was a carbon fiber accent that was knocked off the bumper which I made him go back and find the piece. It was all scuffed up and scratched but is minor.

Already dealt with the Highway Patrol and filed a report. He admitted to it all as he knew that it was all caught on video. Nothing really is going to happen to him because the damage was under $500 and they are pretty much giving him a slap on the wrist.

I told the rider he was lucky to be alive and that if he didn't make contact with my car, he would have been dead. He was on his way to laying down the bike and if it had not been with the contact to my car, he would have slid right out in front of the car and ended up in the ditch if I didn't already run him over.

He was a douche bag and during our conversation he tried to pull out the military 'card' and say that he went to Iraq and blah blah blah and that he would have been fine if he fell off the bike.
