Don't look now, but the all-electric VW E-Up, the silent-but-deadly concept version of the forthcoming VW Up, will be unveiled tomorrow in Frankfurt. It'll get an 82HP e-motor with 80 miles of range and a 30 minute partial charge time.

The VW E-Up will make its formal debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show and with it will come VW's low-cost electric powertrain, a compact 82 HP motor that's get the car up to 83 MPH and offer supposedly fast charging times, as fast as 30 minutes on high-voltage. The Up wont only be electric though, coming in with the three-cylinder diesel and the new 1.2 TSI in the Euro Audi A3.

I'll only be excited about the Up if the production version meets these criteria:

1.) Is sold in the U.S.;

2.) Has a diesel option in the U.S.;

3.) Is affordable (under $15K).
