Toyota has a history of building solidly competent and reliable trucks. What do you need to know before you buy a Toyota Tundra? Don’t worry, we’ll tell you in our Buyer’s Guide.

Toyota is a company that builds sensible, if a little conservative, cars. Cars that not only fulfill your A-to-B requirements, but also tend to do so while keeping cost of ownership down and providing plenty of safety. They’re like the nerd you dated in high school: smart, nice, pretty, mildly fun.

But Toyota’s truck’s have had a bit of a different reputation. They’re more like that sorority girl you dated in college: still nice, still pretty, still smart-ish, but with a bit of a wild side. Sure, Toyota trucks are reliable and sensible just like the cars, but instead of being A-to-B type vehicles, they’re ruggedly capable and tough off road. They’re the wilder side of the Toyota stable.

And though the 2015 is a bit dated (this second generation version has been around since 2006), it’s still a truck worth looking at if you can get a good deal. It still feels powerful and ready to go, and the steering feel is pretty good for a truck. But if you’re keen on ride quality or fuel economy, the Tundra’s older tech may not be what you’re looking for.

What’s New About The 2015 Toyota Tundra

New for 2015 is, well, not much. Gone is the 4.0 liter V6, leaving only the two V8s for the Tundra (4.6-liter and 5.7-liter). You can also get a new integrated trailer brake. The TRD Pro trim level is new for 2015 as well, promising more off-road cred for those who want to venture into the muck. The TRD Pro comes with big 32” tires, skid plates, recover hooks, and a unique fascia.
