However you pluralize it, Toyota is recalling 75,000 Prius models, officially acknowledging that a potential software bug first reported earlier this year was worth notifying owners about. The glitch reportedly causes system failure, and could result in the car's gas engine stalling. The voluntary recall affects slightly over half of Prius models built, affecting those built in 2004 and early 2005. The NHTSA logged 428 complaints related to the problem. No injuries were reported, but rampant smugness has reportedly broken out in certain circles.
