This Is What It's Like To Have A Bird Strike Your Plane's Windshield

This is what it looks like to have a bird crash through your plane's window. It ain't pretty.

The bird in question is a Canada Goose and the plane in question is a Cessna 210 Centurion. Here's the full caption to the fairly gnarly video.

Canadian goose crashes through the windshield of a Cessna 210 Centurion on takeoff from LL22 Brookeridge in Downers Grove, IL December 28, 2013.

The video might be gross, but it's not surprising. I mean, everybody knows Goose dies.

Dukie - Jalopnik Emergency Management Asshole

I hated bird strikes when I was a crew chief. The smell if they went down a motor was horrible. Here's a vid of an A-10 crewed by a good friend of mine doing a demo at Tri-Cities, WA in 2007.

There are pictures from the local news website of the damage close up but they're really small.

Turns out it was a pelican and they actually found a fish in the vertical stabilizer after the pilot landed. They ended up having to get a whole vertical stab to replace the damaged one.
