The Black Series line from Mercedes-AMG consists of cars for insane bastards. There was the CLK 63 AMG Black Series, which was fast enough to blast your retinas into the back of next Tuesday. And there was the SL65 AMG Black Series, which was so stiff your very existence turned to jelly. We always figured that it was always going to be racy coupes and monstrosities, but now it appears as if Mercedes is after our truest hearts. Because this beast looks like a Black Series wagon.
We haven’t even properly seen a new Mercedes-AMG E63 yet, since a new E-class is still just being launched. While that may open us up to accusations that we’re jumping the gun declaring this one a Black Series wagon, I would just like to point you to the park benches Mercedes has apparently affixed to this car in place of normal fender flares. You could have a proper seat on those.
And then there’s the rubber lurking under those wheel arches. Those tires look massive, even for an E-class AMG. They’re just absurd on a wagon. They’re perfect.
If we’re getting down to brass tacks, we also need to talk power. The last E63 AMG S had 577 horsepower, and the next one, if I had to guess, would sport something closer to 600. Making this one have somewhere around 625.
Yes, we live in a world where we may soon have a Mercedes family wagon with more power than the vaunted McLaren F1.
