Ex-Formula One driver Bruno Senna will be joining the McLaren GT team as a factory driver for selected events this year. Fans of Ayrton's nephew, rejoice!

Senna will help with development of the 650S GT3 and 650S Sprint race cars, so most of his work with McLaren will be behind the scenes. Still, plans for him to race the car in events like the 24 Hours of Spa will be finalized and announced soon. Senna will be racing the 650S GT3, which makes its debut through customer teams this year.

Rob Bell, Kevin Estre and Alvaro Parente are the rest of McLaren's GT factory driver lineup.

Senna has been racing in the World Endurance Championship with Aston Martin, where that absurdly quick team has nabbed many pole positions and wins in GTE. He also hopped onto a team running a McLaren 12C GT3 at the 24 Hours of Spa last year. So, he's a logical choice to help develop the latest and greatest GT3.

Best of all, he's happy to be there.

"It is a great honor for me to be joining McLaren; a team my uncle enjoyed such huge success with, and one of the most famous names in motorsport," said Senna in the company's press release.
