These Are The Worst Selling Cars Through Q3 Of 2023

The Lexus RC may not have what it takes to directly compete with cars such as the BMW M4, but it’s still a stylish coupe that we’re sure will be reliable for years to come. Unfortunately for Toyota, that’s not exactly the kind of pitch that draws in tons of buyers. Only 1,314 have been sold so far this year.

Nissan has sold a lot more Zs this year than it sold last year, but that still only adds up to a disappointing 1,309 cars. Surely that doesn’t spell trouble for the automatic-only Nissan Z Nismo and its $60,000+ price tag.

Audi tried to keep things fresh with a small update for 2024, but the A7 just isn’t selling like it has in the past. It only found 1,223 buyers through the third quarter of this year, down more than 28 percent versus last year.

While we’re sad to see the Nissan Z on this list, that’s not the case for the 9,000-pound Hummer EV. Whether it’s an issue with manufacturing or a true lack of demand, GMC has only been able to move 1,232 Hummers so far this year.

Allegedly, the BMW XM drives better than it looks, but with looks like that, the bar is literally on the floor. No wonder only 1,204 people have been willing to part with the more than $150,000 required to put an XM in your driveway.

Generally speaking, demand for flagship luxury sedans is pretty low, and while being the budget option probably helps the Genesis G90, it hasn’t been enough to draw in more than 150 customers a month all year. Still, with 1,022 sales so far this year, sales are actually up a little more than 30 percent year-over-year.

Even among people who are aware that Audi makes electric vehicles, we’re not sure how many even know the Q8 e-tron Sportback exists. After all, it’s an even more niche version of an already niche vehicle. By the end of the year, it will probably have broken the 1,000-unit sales mark, but for now, only 917 have sold so far.

The Alfa Romeo Giulia and Stelvio are incredibly enjoyable to drive, but to draw in the masses, Alfa introduced the front-wheel-drive-based Tonale. With only 864 sold through the end of Q3, let’s just say it hasn’t exactly been the kind of hit we expect Alfa was hoping for.

We’ll be saying goodbye to the Jaguar F-Type soon, but for now, they’re still technically available until the end of the 2024 model year. We’re going to miss that raucous V8 when it’s gone, but we kind of understand only 858 people wanting a car that hasn’t been redesigned in a decade.

Yes, there’s another Jaguar on the list — one that’s technically for sale, but we’re pretty sure most people, even car enthusiasts, have forgotten about entirely. As 673 people can tell you, if you really want an XF, you can still get a brand-new one.

Speaking of cars that most people have forgotten about, consider this your regular reminder that Fiat still sells the 500X in the U.S. It’s only sold 421 of them this year, but hey, that still counts as selling them. We’re not sure who these buyers were, but we hope they at least got some massive discounts.

This list really isn’t painting a bright picture of Jaguar’s future. Maybe its next generation of vehicles will sell better, but it’s got to be hard to keep a company afloat when, so far this year, E-Pace sales have been a paltry 387.

If it makes you feel any better, this is the last Jaguar on the list. Although, considering the only other vehicle Jaguar makes is the F-Pace, which is still selling strong at...checks notes...3,795 units, that’s not exactly impressive. As for the I-Pace, the oddly styled EV has only found its way into 330 homes this year.

You could point out that the Nissan GT-R is old, and you would be correct. But it also returned from the dead for some reason, which at least gives you an extra cool point for buying one in 2023. Sure, Nissan’s only sold 312 of them this year, but that’s a 457-percent improvement over last year. So at least there’s that.

Reviews of the Hyundai Nexo have generally been positive, and it seems safe to say that among all hydrogen-powered vehicles available in the U.S., it’s easily one of the top two. It may be one of only two HEVs sold here, but let’s not sweat the details here. So far this year, Hyundai’s only sold 173 Nexos, which really isn’t a lot. For comparison, Toyota has sold 2,604 Mirais.

Out of all the cars on this list, the Karma Revero and GS-6 take the cake for being the most forgotten. Apparently, though, they’re still in production, but their sales are so low, it’s hard to understand how the company stays in business. Still, it’s sold 143 GS-6s and 56 Reveros this year, both of which are actually sales increases compared to last year. Huh.
