Police released the 20-minute-long video of Detroit Lions President Tom Lewand's arrest on suspicion of DUI Friday night, showing Lewand struggling to hide he's reportedly two-and-a-half times over the legal limit. Gosh, we can't imagine why he'd be drinking.

Tom Lewand is the current president of the Detroit Lions and a recovering alcoholic. He was near Houghton Lake, Michigan when he was stopped by the police on suspicion of drunk driving. Lewand said, at the time, he was the designated driver going to pick up some people from the bar. The police report says he smelled of alcohol and his eyes were "glossy and bloodshot." Lewand claimed the stench was "breath mints."

From this video obtained by the Detroit Free Press it's clear Lewand, while calm and polite the entire time, attempts to mask his condition with slow and careful speech. He manages to pass most of the visual examinations but refuses to take the breathalyzer test numerous times and is eventually arrested. Later, at the station, he blew a 0.21, which is two-and-a-half times the legal limit.

Lewand later apologized for the incident:

"I am deeply sorry for my actions and take full responsibility for them. As a person in active recovery I am committed to taking all necessary steps to insure nothing like this ever happens again."

For the life of us, we can't imagine why the President of the Detroit Lions would need to drink.
