If you believed the real problem with the Porsche Panamera is it just needed a bit more power — and not that it's a four-door Porsche — then today's your lucky day. Here's the 550 HP Porsche Panamera Turbo S.
As everyone expected, the Turbo S — the newest 911-ification of the Panamera range — gets a power boost up to 550 horsepower, 50 more than the Turbo, thanks to new twin turbochargers with titanium–aluminum turbines and a modified engine control system. Torque also gets a boost to 553 lb-ft compared to 516 lb-ft. in the Turbo.
Porsche claims the Panamera Turbo S' power boost will help it sling its ass to 60 mph in just 3.6 seconds when you hit the "Sport Plus" button. Top speed gets a similar boost up to 190 mph.
On the exterior, you'll get new 20-inch Turbo II wheels with increased rear axle track width, side skirts from the Porsche Exclusive range and the adaptive four-way extending rear spoiler designed to express the car's performance capability.
Inside, you'll get an interior swathed in a new standard bi-color leather finish and a combination of black/cream offered exclusively for the Turbo S with Agate Grey/cream also being added as an exclusive option later this year. Agate Gray Metallic will also be an exclusive exterior color.
Although we'll see it live next month at the New York Auto Show, you can expect the Panamera Turbo S to reach showrooms later this Spring, with pricing in the U.S. starting at $173,200, excluding $975 for delivery and destination.
