The latest Cadillac CTS is phenomenal. The Cadillac ATS is the best small sport sedan America has ever produced. That's all well and good, but there's always room for more — more power, more handling, more noise, more more. And more is coming in 2015.
Cadillac today announced that the next generation of America's answer to M, AMG and RS, the V-Series cars, are currently in development and are set to premiere next year. Many of us expected the new Cadillac CTS-V or even ATS-V would bow at the New York Auto Show last month, but that was not to be. Instead, we'll have to wait a little while longer.
They don't say what those cars are, but at the moment we can guess a twin-turbo V6 for the ATS-V and some kind of V8 for the CTS-V.
In the meantime, the bad boy pictured above is going to have to tide us over. That's the 2015 Cadillac CTS-V Coupe, a special edition model of which only 500 will be produced. Cadillac says it marks "the last chapter of the current model before the next generation of the V-Series debuts next year."
Based on the last-generation CTS, this final CTS-V gets a 556 horsepower blown V8, Magnetic Ride Control, Brembo brakes and a few classy interior and exterior tweaks.
Considering how good this outgoing CTS-V is, I'm pretty excited for what Cadillac has in store for us going forward. Good things come to those who wait.
