The McLaren 570S Spider Is Just So Cheap

If you’ve looked at the McLaren lineup recently and felt disheartened that you couldn’t afford any of the Spider versions, then listen up: the new 570S Spider is here and. It. Is. Cheap.

How cheap? $208,800—like pocket change. Here’s what you’ll get:

  • The same 3.8-liter twin-turbo engine with 562 horsepower
  • A two-piece roof that takes 15 seconds to open or close (too slow) at speeds of up to 25 mph
  • A carbon-fiber monocoque
  • 101 extra pounds over the standard Coupe (more bang for your buck)
  • McLaren’s word that the Spider’s performance specs (0-60 in 3.1 seconds and 204 mph top speed) are the same as the Coupe’s

See? After all that, the Spider is basically a bargain! Consider that the McLaren 675LT is $349,500 and the McLaren 650S Spider is $265,500. You don’t need to be good at math to see that the 570S Spider is the most economical decision of the three.

This concludes your financial advice column for the day.
