The Kia Stinger GT Beasts The Ford Mustang GT

The 2018 Kia Stinger GT might be the best new car to seemingly come from nowhere, as entertaining a sports sedan as anything else on the market. But can it out-run the other GT you can buy, the Ford Mustang? As it turns out, hell yes it can.

Motoring Australia put a new Stinger GT against a Mustang GT on a drag strip down there and quickly found that the Kia dusts the Ford. The Mustang did the quarter mile in 13.32 seconds (faster than when I did my first-ever drag pass in a GT350R) while the Kia did the same in 12.83.

For reference, the Kia makes do with 365 horsepower from its 3.3-liter twin-turbo V6, while the Mustang is over 400 from its 5.0-liter V8. Motoring Australia pegs the power figure at 410 horsepower, which seems off since Ford claimed 435 horsepower. The Mustang did make 412 horsepower, but that was when it was in the older 2011-2014 5.0.

In any case, the Kia is faster than you’d expect. Nice car.
