The Cars Of Pam & Tommy Are Perfect
The Hulu original documents the whirlwind relationship of Pamala Anderson and Tommy Lee in the mid-90s
If you're like me — and millions of others — you've been watching Hulu's Pam & Tommy religiously over the past month or so. But, if you're also like me, you may have noticed something the average person wouldn't. The vehicles featured in the show are perfect in just about every way. The mini-series tells the story of Pam and Tommy's brief but hectic marriage in the mid-to-late 1990's. Some of the cars featured are just *chef's kiss*. They represent not only the period but the owners of the cars so well.
So, won't you please come with me on a journey into the best cars of Pam & Tommy.
Tommy Lee’s Car Collection
Let's first start off with one of the opening shots of the series: This is part of Tommy Lee's collection on the show. Say what you will about the Mötley Crüe drummer, but this is some exquisite taste. I mean, a Pontiac Firebird convertible, Porsche 930 Turbo and Mustang Mach 1 is a pretty great combo. Yeah, he may be a lunatic, but give the man some credit.
Rand’s Chevrolet Van
Next up we have Rand's blue Chevy Van. It wasn't always blue (it started life as a delightfully terrible dirty beige), but he had to paint it blue as a disguise in order to rob Pam and Tommy. I know this is technically a spoiler, but I have to assume if you are reading this you saw the show. "Paybach" written on the side of the truck is such a lovely little touch as well. You go, Rand!
Tommy Lee’s Mustang Mach 1
Here's a closer look at Tommy's delightfully period-correct brown Mach 1. You can see him here giving the finger to the paparazzi, as he is wont to do. This is the car we see Tommy driving in the most. I suppose he, too, is a fan of brown.
Rand’s Father’s Ford Mustang Convertible
This right here is more of a minor character: It's Rand's terrible father's first generation Mustang. He uses it to pick up women and abuse his son. What a guy! Thinking about a ride in this car and the ensuing night Rand had as a child was his inspiration for stealing Pam and Tommy's safe. So, maybe it wasn't that minor after all. One thing is for certain though — it's very pretty.
Pam and Tommy’s W140 Mercedes-Benz S-Class
Now everyone, please take a look at this absolutely mint W140 Mercedes Benz S-Class driven by Tommy Lee. The man may love his American muscle, but he clearly has a soft spot for some German engineering. In this scene he's paying a visit to some bikers to beat up Rand: A hero!
Rand’s Bright Orange Datsun Z
Here's a look at Rand's beat-to-shit Datsun Z in a very excellent orange. It's really just a great choice for a man who has very little going for him but wants to look good on a budget in 1996 Los Angeles. A car like this would cost about $1.6 million on Bring a Trailer these days. Hopefully Rand held onto it.
Pam and Tommy’s Jeep Cherokee XJ
Finally, we have Pam and Tommy's escape vehicle, an XJ Jeep Cherokee that I am very much in love with. One can only assume the car was put in the show in dedication to David Tracy. I have no idea how the production company found the last perfect example of an XJ, but I applaud them. The duo use this car to run off to Las Vegas, where things end rather terribly.
