How badly does Cadillac want the 2016 ATS-V to compete with the new BMW M3 and M4? Enough that they're priced extremely close. Cadillac this morning announced the starting prices of their hotted-up ATS sedan and coupe.

The ATS-Vsedan will start at $61,460, and the ATS-Vcoupe will start at $63,660. (You'd think you'd pay more for extra doors, but no.) Those prices are without tax, title, dealer fees, options or the TruCoat, which you'll want.

So the ATS-V, powered by a 455 horsepower twin-turbo V6, will come in awfully similar to the M3 and M4. The sedan starts at $62,000, and the coupe starts at $64,200.

Cadillac gets a lot of guff for pricing their cars so close to their German rivals, but if any car deserves it, it's the V models. With a zero to 60 mph time of 3.9 seconds and a top speed of 185 mph, this ATS-V sounds like a nasty American performance machine. Let's see how buyers respond to it.
