I have to admit something to you guys: The Jalopnik staffers were nervous before our Amazon/The Grand Tour bash last Friday night. We badly wanted everyone to enjoy themselves and have a good evening. We didn’t want to disappoint you. But after chatting with you guys and seeing the photos, I think everyone’s evening went just fine. Better than fine.
The food was delicious, the desserts were scrumptious and the bar was open. The venue was awesome, with plenty of space for everyone to spread out and make themselves comfortable.
We also had an impromptu trivia challenge, where Jason wrote a bunch of questions about car logos and offered up a copy of Herbie Goes To Monte Carlo as a prize.
And, of course, you are what made the evening most memorable. You came all the way to Hollywood, battling Friday night LA traffic to hang out with us and a bunch of other enthusiasts. We are deeply grateful because Jalopnik wouldn’t be what it is without your continued support.
Just a heads up, though: We will probably never have an event as nice as this one was again (we have the team at Amazon to thank for that), so... manage your expectations from here. But! With the amount of positive feedback we got from Friday, I think we’ll have an easier time justifying more events to people with actual, you know, money. No promises, though.
And though Jalopnik’s East Coast crew has cleared out, LA-based Jalopnik Chief Test Pilot Andrew Collins will be at the Culver City Car Show on May 12 with his Scout. You can show up and bug him there, I am giving you permission.
Until next time, friends!
