Subaru's new crossover SUV, now known as the B9X following an announcement from the company this morning at the South Florida International Auto Show, will be unveiled publicly at the upcoming Detroit Auto Show. Building on themes introduced by the company's B11S B9SC and R1e concept cars, the B9X, no relation to the 2XL toy robot popular in the early 1980s, will feature Subaru's Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system and boxer engine. No surprise there — the mail carts at Subaru's corporate offices probably have all-wheel drive and boxers. We don't mean to sound cynical, but the words "crossover SUV" act like a gigantic quaalude on our cerebral cortex.
