Still-AWOL Detroit Councilman Charles Pugh Now Willingly Showing His Face

Absent but not missing Detroit City Councilman — he still holds the title, as he's not yet been removed by his fellow councilmen — Charles Pugh has been in New York City for at least a month. Today, he showed his face on social media.

Well, it's possible that when New York Daily News reporter — a reporter! — Michael Feeney snapped this photo of Pugh at a New York Association of Black Journalists meeting, he didn't tell him that it would be posted to Instagram a few seconds later and instantly catch the attention of Detroiters still wondering where he is and what he's doing. But nonetheless, Pugh is alive and well.

We know it's Pugh because we know Pugh likes Burberry, and that's a Burberry scarf. Maybe a Canal Street Burberry scarf, but I digress. And now there are even more questions than answers.

Why hasn't Pugh officially resigned? Although emergency manager Kevyn Orr has suspended his pay and Saunteel Jenkins has stepped in as city council president, how does he still have the title to this day? Better yet, why hasn't City Council formally removed him? This picture should be more than enough proof that he's not coming back anytime soon.

What's Pugh doing at a New York Association of Black Journalists meeting? (Trying to meet Beyonce, perhaps?) There's one good reason to go to an NABJ meeting, other than the free food: To network. When you network, you get jobs. So is Pugh, a former Fox 2 anchor, job-hunting? Who'd hire him, based on his well-documented track record of suddenly leaving jobs with zero notice?

Why is Pugh still hiding out in NYC? No one goes to NYC to clear their head. The allegations of misconduct with a minor student have been suspended. So why keep running? Does that make a person look more guilty?

How is Pugh living day to day? We know his financial history is littered with eviction notices, unpaid bills and foreclosures. Are the rumors of living with CNN's Don Lemon true?

But most of all, why hasn't Pugh apologized to Detroit residents? Apologized to the people who voted for him in the first place? Why hasn't he just called to say hello, instead of spreading the word through strangers on the street? Why are all of his social media accounts still dark? And why is a man who originally didn't want to be found showing up in this way?

Please respond.
