Someone Is Hijacking Canadian Mail Trucks To Steal Holiday Loot

Illustration for article titled Someone Is Hijacking Canadian Mail Trucks To Steal Holiday Loot

With Black Friday sales behind us and the holidays quickly approaching, the volume of goods being sent through the mail is reaching its yearly peak. Unfortunately for a couple of Canada Post drivers in Surrey, British Columbia, someone decided to rob their trucks.

Police were pretty sure the thief was trying to get hold of the gift that could keep on giving throughout the high-volume holiday season — mailbox keys. Either that or Cyber Monday deliveries.

One of the drivers whose truck was hijacked grabbed hold of the mirror as the robber drove away, yelling and clinging on for dear life as the truck picked up speed. He finally let go when his assailant brandished a can of mace at him, and broke his wrist when he fell.

He admitted that his proactive resistance to the theft went completely against how they taught him to deal with such situations in mailman school. But this guy's part of a higher order who live by a noble creed: Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds. But mail truck reivers can. (Hat tip to Will!)

Doesn't anyone else think it's just ADORABLE that Canadians hijack trucks armed only with mace?
