Slate On GM's Boardroom Mess
While hand-wringers worry that Kerkorian putting Jerry York on GM's board could lead to the dismantling of the automaker, Slate's Daniel Gross takes a different tack: why shouldn't York have a seat on the board? After all, Kerkorian's the third-largest stakeholder in the ailing behemoth, and his holdings in the company dwarf the amount of stock held by the rest of the board combined. Also of note, Gross takes the motley crew that represents the General's share holders and points out their weaknesses and/or their current lack of activity in corporate America. Our feelings on Kerkorian aside, could a boardroom shakeup save GM? It seems like it couldn't necessarily hurt. [Thanks to CTE for the tip.]
