After having a rough start, McLaren managed to turn its 12C GT3 racers debut season into a success story. Thirteen teams entered 98 races with Woking's best, and the cars added 19 victories and another 19 podium finishes to Ron Dennis's already impressive trophy collection.

The big news is that the boys are back in town, going global in 2013 after playing only in the old continent last year. More examples have been built and delivered to the new teams, while all the previous buyers decided to continue with McLaren as well. One new face behind the wheel will be nine-time Rally World Champion Sébastien Loeb, who will contest in the FIA GT Series leading a two car team bearing his name. McLaren GT factory driver Alvaro Parente will join him in the cockpit.

The 2013 12C GT3 got some minor upgrades, which are also available for the previous model. The cooling system has been redesigned so it can cope with the more varied conditions found in global championships. This basically means the new car can run in higher temperatures without a meltdown. The aerodynamics package was revised for better balance and tyre management, while the upgraded ECU and the alternative dampers are there to boost cornering speeds.
