Imagine a street rod that costs less than a late-model Hyundai. That's the concept behind the Rodster, a body kit that attaches to an S-10 Blazer chassis to create a late 30s-style roadster. The kits start at around three grand, and a donor car can cost as little as $2,000 (like this one up on eBay).
Now if one were to, say, use the underpinnings of a GMC Typhoon, the Blazer clone that can smoke nearly everything but a Dodge Viper off the line, I'd say that for around $20,000 you could be tooling around in an old-school street machine that'll make tuner salad out of nearly any street sled, and still turn heads at the drive-in. That is, if time travel were your thing.
