If you like white, gray, blue or black, you’re probably going to be in good shape with the upcoming 2016 BMW M2. You’re gonna be in better shape if you like 365 turbocharged horsepower, but who doesn’t like that?
Details remain scarce about the M2, but a report from the 2Addicts forum citing a source deep within BMW claims the car will put out 365 HP and 343 lb-ft of torque. The source says that power will come from the familiar N55 3.0-liter turbo inline six engine, only worked over by the crew at the M division.
The post also says the engine will feature an overboost function that adds about 25 lb-ft in the low- to mid- range RPMs. This car’s predecessor, the beloved BMW 1M, did something similar.
As for the colors, he says it will only come in Alpine White, Black Sapphire Metallic, Long Beach Blue Metallic and Mineral Grey Metallic. Hey, that’s one more color than the 1M had!
Take all of this with a grain of salt until official details come out, but they sound plausible. We’ve also heard the new M2 will be manual-only, so get excited about that. If it’s anywhere near as good as the 1M was, it’s going to be stellar.
