On the heels of the new pontiff Benedetto Centesimi's Volkswagen Golf fetching a holy penny on eBay (from GoldenPalace.com, the casino that recently bought a grilled-cheese sandwich in the shape of the Virgin Mary), a 1975 Ford Escort, in which the late John Paul II used to jet out for gelato, is up for auction by Kruse International. The car's previous owner paid $102,000 for it in 1996, but its current value is pegged at somewhere between $5 million and unestimable. [Thanks to Richard for the tip.]
