Several law enforcement vehicles in Texas will receive a high-tech spa treatment by researchers at the University of Houston. Through a $1 million National Institute of Justice (NIJ) grant, the vehicles will begin field tests using systems developed at the school's UH Cullen College of Engineering, including a rugged mass memory storage device, antennas with multiple frequency bands for border patrol applications, and other esoteric but seemingly useful crime-fighting materiel.
