New Jersey men accused of soliciting prostitution are suing to have their cars returned to them. Under an ordinace enacted by Paterson, NJ, people suspected of cruising for pay-tang can have their vehicles impounded. If they're not claimed by paying a $1,500 (or 10% of the car's value) fine within 180 days, they can then be auctioned off. The class action suit claims the ordinace is unconstitutional, violating protections from unreasonable seizures and taking of property without due process. However, Paterson officials claim that since the men are entitled to a hearing, there's nothing wrong with it. We're not backing Paterson on this one. Let the hookers and the johns be free to roll, knowwhatwe'resayin'?
