Peugeot EX1 Yet Another Gotta-Have, Never-Get Concept

The Peugeot Asphalte Concept bowed in 1996. The Peugeot 20Cup Concept debuted in 2005. Now the Peugeot EX1 emerges for this year's Paris Motor Show. All takes on the same concepts, all with the same likelihood of never becoming reality.

The Peugeot EX1 is mouth-wateringly tantalizing for anyone with even a scant regard for the track-day arts. The problem is if we consider Pug's record with concepts like this, it has roughly the same chance at production as jet-powered suspenders. Regardless, it is a very cool piece of kit.

Just 35 inches tall and and 68 inches wide, the EX1 is a micro-machine by most standards. It's packing light weight monocoque construction with trick seats built into the doors and pair of 170 hp electric motors for a 340 hp total and a combined 177 lbs-ft of torque. Suspension is double A-arm up front with what sounds like a motorcycle style swing arm with a floating axle at the rear. Suffice it to say this teardrop shaped terror would probably eat a spec Miata's lunch. Unfortunately that lunch would be imaginary.

So Peugeot, prove us wrong. You've been kicking this concept around for a decade and a half. Chie ou tire-toi des chiottes
