Passing 27 Cars In Six Laps On A Narrow Street Course Is The Run Of A Lifetime

Here’s a video that’s so insane, it’s been compared to driving Forza on Easy mode with all the assists on. It doesn’t look real, but it’s what happened when Jono Lester restarted in 32nd position at the Australian GT Championship’s first race of the 2015 Clipsal 500 weekend. Watch this, and I’ll even offer to help pick your jaw off the ground.

Welcome to Onboard of the Week, a feature [that I started in the offseason and then promptly forgot about when racing is happening — oops] where we spend that pesky time between races looking at awesome footage from inside the car.

This was the final restart, so Lester just had to bring the car home in a decent position. That’s a bit hard when you’re restarting so far back, but he makes cutting through traffic look easy in this clip. Some of the other cars on track look like they’re practically standing still in comparison!

Lester’s gorgeous #27 (good number, eh?) TFM Ferrari 458 Italia GT3 successfully charged from 32nd to 5th place in the six laps remaining of the race. Insane.
