Among the nearly one-million fictional dollars of today's list, six-thousand of them stand out like a bullfrog in a bowl of tapioca (thanks, Dan Rather). That is, the figurative $6,000 spent on a Mini Marcos GT. The Marcos was a mid-1960s era sports car with underpinnings made from aviation-grade laminates, a fiberglass body and a Mini drivetrain, described as "ugly as hell" by one LeMans commentator in the late '60s and a "bug-eyed buzz box" by a long-forgotten writer of automotive quips and drollery. While the car hung around in various forms until the 1990s, its the early Mini Marcos that's the most notable — at least to those who learned about British sports cars from Matchbox. [Thanks, Jason]
