NJ Troopers Under Investigation For Escorting Brandon Jacobs's 100 MPH 'Death Race'

New 49ers running back Brandon Jacobs loves him some fast cars. His collection has been featured in auto magazines, and after being booed by Giants fans in October, he responded "I've got nothing positive to say. The most positive thing: I got family at home and I got a fast-ass car being delivered on Tuesday. That's it."

Jacobs belongs to the Driving Force Club, which last month headed down to Atlantic City. According to the Star-Ledger, their convoy—travelling in excess of 100 mph—received a police escort down the Garden State Parkway, sending civilians racing for the safety of the shoulder.

One witness, who filed a complaint with the NJ Turnpike Authority, wrote that he saw about 25 high-performance cars, with police cars in the front and behind.

"When I was in the high speed lane passing a series of slower vehicles, I saw police flashers in my rear view mirror, moving at a high rate towards me," Kennedy wrote, "so I sped up, passed the cars and got into the slower lane in the nick of time."

He went on, "The car raced by me going (estimated) 100+ mph. Then I noticed there was a series of performance cars (Porsches, Ferraris, etc.) that were following the lead police car with their blinkers on and license plates taped off – speeding at the same high rate. I noticed that many cars were struggling to get out of their way safely."

According to NBC New York, one police source says the sergeant involved with the escort is "tight" with Jacobs.

Jacobs told Rides Magazine that one of his cars can get up to "135 or 140 mph," but he's not interested in pushing the limits.

"I wanna go straight. I'm not really in the business of doin' Dale Jr. or Bobby Labonte or any of them guys. They can keep that."

But at least one video, filmed last summer, claims to show Jacobs racing his Nissan GT-R on public roads.
