Meet the Oreca 03/Nissan prototype that will compete at the Rolex 24 at Daytona, the 12 Hours of Sebring and Petit Le Mans, but it's now in the top class of sports car racing in America. She's a beauty.
Developed by Muscle Milk Pickett Racing for the prototype class of the TUDOR Championship debuting at Daytona on January 25-26, the Oreca 03 comes with Nismo power now and GT1 FIA World Champion Lucas Luhr behind the wheel, accompanied by Klaus Graf and Alex Brundle, son of former Daytona 24 (1988) and Le Mans (1991) champion Martin Brundle, who you might know as being BBC's current F1 commentator.
His son, 23-year old Alex raced for Oak Racing in 2013 in the FIA World Endurance Championship, finishing second in both the championship and at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in the LM P2 class. Which makes me wonder at what age did his father start teaching him to drive. 3?
Nissan won four consecutive driver's championships, three manufacturer's titles and 33 IMSA races between 1988 and 1991, and their return to Daytona, the 12 Hours of Sebring and Petit Le Mans is a part of Nismo's plan for collecting more trophies all around the world.
Well, if something, this looks like the tool for the job.
