It's called "12 O'Clock Boys," and it's the documentary I'm most looking forward to seeing next year.
The movie, which debuted at SXSW this year, follows Pug, a 13-year-old living in Baltimore. His brother dies, and Pug looks to the 12 o'clock boys as his new role models. The 12 o'clock boys are the big biker group in Baltimore. The cops are forbidden from chasing them for fear of endangering the public, but that doesn't mean the dirt bike riders aren't doing some very dangerous, very illegal riding through the city streets.
I've been living in NYC for six years now and I've been blown away by the huge dirt bike runs from Harlem and the Bronx. One day you might be about to cross the street when a hundred dirt bikes and four wheelers fly past the intersection. I've seen a cop watch quietly as two guys wheelie'd past him on 125th street. The cop didn't care in the least.
I'm not happy these guys are out without helmets (because shit like this happens), but I want to know more about this dirt bike culture. "12 O'Clock Boys" looks like it's going to be the definitive doc on it.
