Like the 1980s Camaro I featured last week, it's not too uncommon to run into classic Mustangs. But it is pretty rare to run into one as clean and well-kept as this one, which I'm fairly certain has been restored.
This light turquoise Mustang I encountered downtown was definitely an eye-catcher. Even today, almost 50 years after its debut, the original pony car is still such a great design. It looks clean, sexy and fun all at once. Other Mustangs have tried to copy the styling — including the unfortunate disco-era Mustang II and current model — but none have been quite as good as the original.
The car I found had an automatic transmission, a tan interior, a healthy amount of chrome and the 289 cubic inch (that's 4.7 liters, to those of us raised on import cars) V8 engine. I love those wheels with the center spokes sticking out.
But as much as I appreciate old-school American iron, I'm certainly no expert. Any idea what year this one is? Come on, Mustang scholars, now's your time to shine!
