Mousetrap Cars!

Oh man, we'd totally forgotten the mousetrap car we built for Mr. Traversi's 8th-grade science class. While our friend Pedar swiped the trophy with some kind of crazy watch mechanism and two gigantic foam-core wheels, we played hare to his tortoise and attached a long rod to the mousetrap itself, which we then mounted on the top of a cheap plastic van. A little powdered graphite on the axles, and bingo-bango. Set the thing under a chair with the rod pointed toward the front wheels, and it just pushed off with a burst of speed so blinding...well, it wasn't really. But we still got like fourth. Plus, it was a van! 'Cuz we were all J.J. McClure and Captain Chaos like that, even back then.
