Rinspeed just pinged us with a lengthy manifesto describing its technical marvel — the natural gas powered Senso concept, which will appear in Geneva — in more detail than we thought possible. Of course, the Swiss firm and its main project partner, plastics producer Bayer MaterialScience, are a steaming pile of genius, and the Senso is just their latest stink, quite literally.
The car uses biometric sensors — e.g., pulse gauge, eye camera — to monitor the driver's physical condition and monitors driving patterns, and uses complex algorithms to establish his state of mind. If he's tired, electric motors in the seats will vibrate to rouse him. If he gets too wound up or is acting too sluggish, the car issues an attitude adjustment in the form of colors (orange/yellow for stimulation, and blue/violet for a calming effect) and smells (vanilla to calm, citrus to boost, dogshit if he's driving like an asshole). The Senso will make its appearance at the Geneva auto show, likely smelling like Toblerone and Gruyere.
